OMT DTS – Oral Mother Tongue
OMT DTS – Oral Mother Tongue
Begins February 15, 2026
The Oral Mother Tongue (OMT) is the first language a person naturally learns from childhood, within their family and community. It’s the language of the heart—the one we think, feel, pray, and connect with God most deeply in.
Did you know that 1.3 billion people still don’t have access to the Scriptures in their own mother tongue? Currently, only 727 languages have the complete Bible translated, leaving about 4,478 languages without God’s Word. That means millions of people have never had the chance to hear Jesus speak directly to their hearts in their own language.
We believe that every nation, tribe, people, and language should have the opportunity to know God (Revelation 7:9).
Translating the Bible orally is far more than a technical task — it’s building a bridge between the Creator and every people group, allowing the message of eternal life to reach those who may never learn to read, but can hear and believe.
Oral Mother Tongue (OMT) is more than just a translation; it is a bridge between worlds, a link between the Creator and the creature. It is about bringing the Word of God to people in their native language, even when 90% do not have access to the complete Bible and two out of three adults will never learn to read.
“The biggest vision that I could ever imagine is to get the Bible and the message of Jesus in every language on earth.” –Loren Cunningham
OMT DTS “New Testament” — A Journey of Transformation and Purpose
The OMT DTS is much more than a school — it’s an adventure of faith, where each step draws us closer to the heart of God and His purpose for the nations. It takes place at YWAM Monte das Águias and combines deep discipleship with oral Bible translation, bringing the living Word of God to places where it has never been heard before.
During the school, we experience intense weeks of teaching, fellowship, and hands-on training. We dive into Bible stories, discovering their context and meaning, allowing the Holy Spirit to transform our understanding and renew our passion for Jesus.
Then comes the most special moment: orally translating those stories into the mother tongues represented by the participants. That’s when the Gospel gains sound, color, and life—reaching hearts in their own language.
In this new season, the great challenge of the OMT DTS will be the New Testament. We want to see entire peoples hearing the words of Jesus, His miracles, letters, and promises—all in their own mother tongue!
Our dream is to see every nation hearing God’s complete Word, from Genesis to Revelation.
And maybe… God is calling you to be part of this!
Why Join?
- If you speak a mother tongue without the New Testament, this is a unique opportunity to be one of the first translators of God’s Word for your people. You’ll help bring the Gospel in the most powerful and accessible way possible — in the heart language of your community.
- If you come from any culture or nation, you can be trained and equipped to actively participate in fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19–20) by bringing the Bible to those who still wait to hear about Jesus.
- If you long to see God’s Kingdom advance, this school is an invitation to end Bible poverty in the world — leaving a spiritual legacy for generations to come.
How It Works in Practice
In the practical phase, participants will work on oral translation projects of the New Testament, recording the stories in audio so they can be shared in villages and communities.
That way, even those who cannot read will have access to the Scriptures in their own language.
The Impact
Each oral translation is a seed planted. When a people group hears the Word of God in their own language, the message is no longer distant — it becomes personal, clear, and transformative.
That’s when hearts are reached, families are renewed, and entire communities are transformed by the power of the Gospel.
The Call Has Been Given
Whoever you are — from any culture or nation — join us. And if you speak a language that still doesn’t have the Bible, God may be calling you to be the one who brings His Word to your people.
The Great Commission continues, and you can be part of it!
