Multicultural DTS

Discipleship Training School (DTS)
Starts February 12, 2023

The DTS is a course that gives people the opportunity to have their character and personality strengthened to know God’s purpose for their lives. The main emphasis of the course is to know God in greater depth and to provide the student with favorable circumstances to mature his relationship with the Lord and the people around him/her.

During the DTS you not only study the word of God but find out how to make it real in your own life by learning to hear the voice of God and letting Him change your heart. The DTS is your chance to intensely seek the face of God and know the joy of being intimate with the creator. Each DTS can offer local, national or international practical opportunities.

Multicultural DTS

A Multicultural DTS aims to unite different cultures to achieve the same goal. Jocum Monte das Águias’ first experience had students from Brazil, Russia, Kazakhstan and the United States. We prepare a classroom with Portuguese / English – English / Portuguese translation and simultaneous translation into Russian and Spanish.

Objective: Gather and train different people from different cultures to spread the gospel. If you have a calling for missions and also you understand the responsibility of missions for Jesus’ return, where everyone comes to hear about Him, this is an opportunity.

BRAZILIANS: The Multicultural DTS is not just for foreigners. It is for everyone who wants to have an international experience of living and learning about people, our role in the culture of honor, about new cultures, about God’s creativity in the arts, colors and essence. Our workload is adapted so that there is no overload for the student, but that all areas of learning are reached.

Adding to everything that went right in the first Multicultural DTS, we will highlight even more to this transcultural character with specific activities to know better the culture of the other and even ours.

Let’s exchange experiences and live, not only the knowledge of the cultures present in the school, but others that we have not yet awakened to its beauty and importance. Many interested in missions dream about going to the nations and living with the people of different places and cultures. The Transcultural DTS student who understands this purpose will realize that God brought that dream to Brazil.

Purpose of a DTS

  • TO MEET and CHALLENGE people to worship, hear and obey God by releasing them (in the context of the DTS) to serve through evangelism, intercession, acts of compassion and other expressions of God’s heart to the world, possibly even pioneering new ministries.
  • TO INSPIRE and CULTIVATE growth in personal relationship with God resulting in a Christ-like character based on a solid biblical foundation, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the personal application of biblical truth, especially regarding the character of God, the cross, and enabling grace.
  • TO IMPROVE the ability to relate, to learn from and work with people, including those from different cultures, personalities, and perspectives.
  • TO EQUIP continuously each student to serve the purposes and God both within and outside the family of the YWAM’s ministries, strengthening a commitment to reach the lost, especially the unreached, to care for the poor and to influence all areas of society.
  • TO PASS the vision and core values of Youth With a Mission International as well as those of the operating local base, and provide information regarding to the variety of opportunities for serving.
In the morning you will have a time alone with God and after that will take place the teaching sessions. In the afternoons, depending on the day of the week, you will be involved in basic maintenance or technical maintenance, dramas practice, groups of studies, discipleship, intercession, etc. The nights are usually free for personal study and book reading. During the DTS you will have one day off per week, which most of the time will be on Saturdays, but may also be on Monday or another day according to the schedule of the week.
During the two months of outreach the students are sent out as a team for a practical work time in a mission field in Brazil or another Country. There the emphasis is on applying the principles taught in the first three months, along with active participation in creative evangelism, training, discipleship, mercy, service and communication.
The Discipleship Training School (YWAM-DTS), including the field assignment, is a prerequisite for all other UofN courses. The YWAM-DTS is the gateway into the 7 Colleges/Faculties and various Centres of the UofN. Students may apply to any YWAM-DTS ofered presently at more than 650 locations in over 140 countries and 97 languages around the world. Once the student has completed the YWAM-DTS, he or she may take advantage of the wide variety of courses the UofN ofers. These courses are designed to equip the student to live and practice Christ’s last command to “make disciples of all nations….teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20). A student does not need to be registered in a degree programme to take UofN courses for which he or she is qualified. Students may take schools in any of the various Colleges/Faculties and locations that best fit their ministry goals. To be admitted to a UofN course, an applicant must provide proof of the ability to do university-level coursework in the language in which the course is ofered. This approach to education ofers the student the flexibility to pursue those areas of study which are beneficial for reaching their life goals. Students are encouraged to be obedient to the call of God as they seek the equipping necessary to pursue their God-given ministry.
